Human puppets for Tipi TalesFor these puppets I designed and built a multiple movement cable controled system that allowed for side to side head movement, universal head pivot, jaw and eye blink movements, forward and backward body pivot. The hand movement was by puppet rod control.
The puppeteer sits below the puppet and operates the controllers while sitting on a swivel wheeled chair. This system allows the puppeteer to move the puppet in all directions in a very lifelike manner.
Here we see the controllers that allow the puppeteer to manipulate the movement of the puppet. The monitor is an essential part of the system allowing the performer to see where the puppet is at all times in relation to the camera, the set and the other puppets.
Here is the underskull mech for the heads. |
